Training Description: Join us for an insightful training session where we delve into the latest data and emerging trends in youth substance misuse. We'll explore the intricate connections between substance use, mental health, and the various influencing factors affecting young people. By focusing on upstream prevention strategies, we'll equip caregivers of children aged 0-5 with actionable insights and resources to foster positive development and reduce the risk of substance misuse.

Trainer:  Deanne Armstrong, Prevention Advisor

Deanne has been employed with the prevention department at DCCCA for over 12 years and in the prevention field for 24 years. Her prevention experience started in Nebraska before moving to Kansas in 2007. She began as a community mobilizer, served as a Drug Free Community program director, a grant manager and was the coordinator of a 12-county coalition. Her current position at DCCCA is a Prevention Advisor providing training and support to co-workers, coalitions and communities across Kansas.  DCCCA is a non-profit agency that is contracted by the state entity to provide training and technical assistance as a part of the Kansas Prevention Collaborative.

Deanne enjoys providing consultation, technical assistance and training to community coalitions and stakeholders to assist them with addressing behavioral health needs with evidence-based approaches.
