The CULTURE CLUB: Elevating Program Culture, Communication and Teamwork!

Descriptions:

What is workplace culture?  People working in a positive workplace culture are happier, healthier, less stressed, more productive, more engaged in teamwork, more likely to have high morale and job satisfaction, less likely to leave the organization, and more.  This session will review how we can develop and maintain workplace climates and environments of joy, teamwork, communication, camaraderie and mutual support.  We will discuss the key elements of positive workplace culture, along with structural adjustments and communication practices to enhance employee support and well-being.

Learning objectives:

  • Participants will discuss the goals and benefits of positive workplace culture
  • Participants will review the key elements of workplace culture, including a sense of contribution toward mission and purpose, social connection with colleagues, and opportunities for growth and professional development
  • Participants will consider strategies around thoughtful and intentional development of program initiatives and communication practices which make people feel valued and enhance engagement and morale

Trainer Bio:

Paul Behrman is a consultant, trainer and keynote speaker with expertise in leadership and management, and a passion for social justice and the continued development and support of early care and education systems and the ECE workforce. For more than 20 years, he served as Director for Champlain Valley Head Start in Vermont, and as Chair for Vermont Head Start Association. Paul serves as a leadership and management mentor and coach, and has participated in national workgroups convened by the federal Office of Head Start in Washington, D.C., the Head Start National Training & Technical Assistance Center for Program Management and Fiscal Operations, and the National Head Start Association. He has served as a Gubernatorial Appointee to the Vermont Blue Ribbon Commission on Financing High Quality, Affordable Child Care, worked as an attorney on behalf of low-income clients, and provided pro bono work. Paul was a Johnson & Johnson Management Program Fellow at Anderson School of Management at UCLA. Paul received a Juris Doctorate degree from UCLA School of Law, and B.A. degree in English and Communication from State University of New York at Albany. He lives in the Brave Little State of Vermont where he enjoys the majesty of nature, live music, and paddle boarding.
